 KangChen Bio-tech High-throughput Technology Platform
As a technology service provider, Kangchen Biotech strives to optimize every stage of an experiment so as to ensure the high quality of its final result. The following are the key equipments selected for our platforms, which either meet with the golden standard or are superior to their peers.
 
Part One: Sample Preparation (including RNA and protein samples)
 
BioPulverizer™
Kangchen uses the BioPulverizer™ for preparing tough, fibrous tissues such as skin, cartilage, cornea, etc., for subsequent rapid cell disruption using other techniques. It uses a method called freeze-fracturing or cryopulverization to reduce tissue hard-frozen in liquid nitrogen to a fine powder. It can efficiently process 12 tissue samples at a time.
 
mini Bead beater 16
Kangchen uses the Mini-Bead-Beater-16™ to disrupt cells and plant and animal tissue. Even resistant samples like yeast, spores or fibrous tissue are completely homogenized in 3-5 minutes. With Mini-Bead-Beater-16™, DNA or RNA is recovered in the highest possible yield. Enzymes and organelles are preserved by the non-foaming, aerosol-free method. Absolutely Zero cross-contamination between samples can be achieved.
 
BioruptorTM
In Kangchen Biotech, Bioruptor is advantageously used in following applications with better reproducibility:
  • Chromatin shearing for Immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay
  • DNA cleavage (MeDIP assays, cloning)
BioruptorTM uses a unique system to uniformly process multiple samples (6 to 12) simultaneously in independent sealed tubes of 0.5ml to 50ml capacity. There is no risk of contamination between samples when using BioruptorTM. It makes sonicate small samples (down to 5µl) possible. It also improves biosafety for there is no aerosol formation. With a better control on the parameters, the Bioruptor enables the automation of the sonication step which guaranties higher reproducibility and constant results.
 
Branson Digital Sonifier
Branson Sonifier® ultrasonic cell disruptor/homogenizers are versatile laboratory units, which is also used in Kangchen. It is suitable for a broad range of liquid processing applications such as biological cell disruption/homogenization.
 
Part Two: Total RNA Quality Check and RNA Quantification
 
NanoDropTM 1000
The NanoDropTM 1000 Spectrophotometer is used in Kangchen for determine the purity and concentration of total RNA. It enables highly accurate UV/Vis analyses of as little as 1 ul samples with remarkable reproducibility. The patented sample retention system eliminates the need for cuvettes and capillaries which decreases the measurement cycle time. The other benefits of the NanoDrop 1000 include: large dynamic range( measures 2-3700 ng/ul dsDNA on a single sample, high absorbance capability, full spectrum (220-750nm), etc.
 
Agilent 2100
The Agilent 2100 BioAnalyzer is used in Kangchen to determine the integrity of total RNA. The Agilent 2100 bioanalyzer is the most successful microfluidics-based platform available. It offers solutions for the analysis of DNA, RNA, proteins and cells. It is faster than gels (digital data in 30 minutes for quality and quantity of up to 12 samples). Quantification of each individual fragment per sample offers purity results.
 
Part Three: Array Hybridization
Kangchen Biotech utilizes different hybridization systems optimally selected for different arrays respectively.
 
Agilent Hybridization Oven
In Kangchen Biotech, Agilent's hybridization oven is used specifically for all the arrays manufactured by Agilent. It is optimally designed for Agilent’s microarray hybridization processes.
 
MAUI Hybridization System
          
MAUI hybridization system is used in Kangchen Biotech for microarrays made by Nimblegen and any other array hybridizations that require higher sensitivity. The effect of Active Mixing on the sample significantly increases sensitivity relative to other hybridization methods. The MAUI hybridization system can offer consistent and reproducible hybridization results with shortened hybridization times.
 
Part Four: Array Scanning
Both Agilent and Genepix 4000B Scanners are used in Kangchen to ensure a speedy and high quality data generation process.
 
Agilent Scanner
The Agilent DNA microarray scanner is a 48-slide scanning system enabled by Surescan technology that can read any mix of 1 x 3” glass slide microarrays (both Agilent and non-Agilent) and seamlessly feature extract them all using Agilent’s Feature Extraction Software.
 
Genepix4000B Scanner
The GenePix® 4000B microarray scanner sets the standard in the acquisition and analysis of expression data from almost all kinds of microarrays based on the fluorescence detection system.
 
Part Five: Sequencing
 
Cluster Station
The Cluster Station is a stand-alone, software-controlled system for the automated generation of clonal clusters from single DNA molecules on Illumina Genome Analyzer flow cells.
 
Genome AnalyzerTM System
The Genome Analyzer is an imaging and fluidics system for ultra-high-throughput sequencing of clonal clusters generated by the Cluster Station.
 
Paired-end Module
The Paired-End Module is a fluidics module that attaches to the Genome Analyzer. It enables paired-end sequencing (sequencing from both ends of a fragment) of DNA libraries on compatible flow cells.
